The Burmese

I have been breeding cats for many moons, 12,045 to be more precise (or a simple 33 years). I have had the experience of raising most of the popular breeds, but from my first encounter with a Burmese, I realized no other breed had the loving personality, intelligence, and beauty of the Burmese.

I have seen my Burmese win over many a non-cat person with their winning ways. I offer a lifetime placement service for any animal I place, and yet I have never had an owner wish to place a Burmese because of incompatibility. Burmese are naturally clean and very quiet (not only in the volume of their voice, but also frequency). They never complain, sulk, or get spiteful.

The Burmese is an extremely beautiful cat with it's satin mink coat and muscular body. I do have two sizes, one very petite, staying under 6 lbs. and others which may go to 8-10 lbs. The colors of the Burmese are uniquely rich and elegant, appreciated by all lovers of beautiful art. I breed the traditional sables (like a rich dark mink or bittersweet chocolate), champagnes (like tea with cream), blues (a clear rich blue) and platinum (Sterling silver with a mauve underglow). The grooming required is minimal as the petting you give will usually keep the coat glowing. The more you pet the shinier they become. I usually refer to my cats as mink neck warmers. A Burmese is not the cat for the person who just wants a beautiful ornament around. Burmese need physical affection if they are to develop into loving family members.

Burmese seem to appreciate the company of dogs, perhaps because mine are raised with dogs but quite often there will be a pile up of Burmese and dogs all speeping together. This is just another example of the Burmese adapting to family life.

Care must be taken with children. The Burmese will accept abusive actions from a child, endangering itself.

They are definitly an inside cat. Occasional outings (supervised in enclosed areas) for exercise and sunshine are encouraged for good health. Care must be taken that they do not get loose as they will be stolen, attacked by dogs, or hit by cars. Burmese make excellent traveling companions. Many clients say their Burmese have a second home in their travel trailers and would drive if possible.
