As I have very good country land for horses and livestock, and I enjoy raising horses, I can now justify the time and expense of having had horses all my life by offering their services to the handicapped children and adults of Costa Rica and America, and anyone else who cares to visit us in Costa Rica.
I think of how nice it would be for families with handicapped children or members to come to the most beautiful mountains, with fantastic weather and landscape, and be able to really relax and have a marvelous vacation.
The Ticos are a very family and child oriented society. The women and men have unlimited patience and affection for children and invalidos, as the handicapped are called here. In Costa Rica, they are kept in the family environment with lots of attention and love.
I will have the opportunity to be able to employ these caring Ticos to assist with the care and attention of visiting horse lovers.
We have farm workers with lifetimes of horse and cattle experience. The native Criolle horses are fascinating and born to work and help. I have never seen horses learn things as quickly. The Andalusians and Paso Finos are a pure pleasure for riding.
I have opened a Foundation which will enable us to proceed seriously with a camp for the underprivileged and handicapped. The name is Natures Acres Foundation.
Natures Acres Foundation is truly a non-profit organization. All donations and help are 100% for the operation of the facilities. As I already have the 100 arcres, 10 horses, cows and pigs for meat, fruit and other natural resources, our needs are only for providing necessary needs of the campers. Our payroll is roughly $2 per hour for construction, farm maintenance, horse shoeing , etc. Medical, legal, and veterinarian fees are a fraction of the states. We have fabulous, devoted volunteers to help with the cooking, feeding, washing, and helping with the children and the animals.
What we are lacking is people like you. You too know the value of an animal's touch or the strength of a soul piercing look from an insecure puppy or child, the pure pleasure of a cat's purr, the wag of a tail and the tooth-missing smile of an eight-year old child. Or the sense of peace and pleasure watching a magnificent horse cantering across a field, a tickle of pleasure at the frolicking foal at her side.
These little happenings are God's way of helping us deal with the world around us. Our needing these little pleasures insures a helping hand for those less fortunate than ourselves.
We can offer you the opportunity to join us in this endeavor. Physical, financial or spiritual support is desperately needed to make this project a success. If you can join us for a fulfilling vacation, come on down or, if that is not possible, join us in spirit with your support.
Our needs are more easily met here than in the states. The dollar goes further here and there are a lot of natural resources.
Your help with donations of needed supplies, construction materials and work, horse tack and training, bedding and kitchen materials, and experienced advise (medical, legal, public relations, horse sense, etc.) are all deeply appreciated.
Financial assistance would be a God-send. Every penny will be well spent, honestly and wisely. Become a family member of Natures Acres and enjoy first-hand the delight in bringing pleasure and better health to those less fortunate than ourselves.
We are not expecting to change the world, just to make it a little more pleasant whenever we can. We will enjoy seeing the smile on your face, when you see how much pleasure you can give so easily.
